PASSPORT PROTOCOLS REVISED POLICY

‘Sex and Gender Diverse Passport Applicants’ section

Sex reassignment surgery is not a prerequisite to issue a passport in a new gender.
Birth or citizenship certificates do not need to be amended for sex and gender
diverse applicants to be issued a passport in their preferred gender.

GETTING A PASSPORT MADE EASIER FOR SEX AND GENDER DIVERSE PEOPLE


Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and Attorney-General Robert McClelland today announced
new guidelines to make it easier for sex and gender diverse people to get a passport in their
preferred gender.

TRANSGENDERS WIN FIGHT TO BE CONSIDERED MALE

Two transgender Western Australians have won their fight to be legally considered male.

The female to male transsexuals, known only as AB and AH, took their case to the High Court after the Court of Appeal in WA upheld an earlier decision rejecting their application to have their gender reassigned.
